Do I need a referral from my GP or consultant?

No. You can self-refer and book directly with us online or over the phone. We will handle your clinical assessment in-house before administering any treatment.

What happens during my first appointment?

Every treatment begins with a thorough clinical assessment. Our clinician will discuss your medical history, perform physical tests on the joint, and check for any contraindications to ensure the injection is completely safe for you. If you are suitable, the injection can often be administered during the same visit.

Is the injection painful?

Most patients find the procedure highly tolerable. We use extremely fine needles, and the process itself takes only a few seconds. The injection itself does not numb the area but is fast acting and commonly results in instantaneous results.

How quickly will I feel relief, and how long does it last?

The anti-inflammatory steroid typically begins to work within 24 to 72 hours, with full effects settling in after a week. Relief usually lasts from several weeks to several months.

Hyaluronic Acid: Benefits are more gradual but longer-lasting, often providing relief and improved joint lubrication for 6 to 12 months.

Are there any side effects?

Joint injections are very safe procedures. Minor, temporary side effects can include a mild “flare-up” of pain or swelling at the injection site for 24–48 hours. We will discuss all potential risks and side effects thoroughly during your assessment before proceeding.

Can I drive home after my appointment?

We recommend that you do not drive immediately after a joint injection, particularly if we are treating your weight-bearing joints (like your hip, knee or ankle). It is always best to arrange for someone to drive you home or use public transport.
